Stuart Bain, a determined father from Paisley, has achieved an impressive weight loss of three stone after facing challenges in keeping up with his children. Stuart, who battles chronic fatigue and hypoglycemia, found himself in a situation where anxiety and weight gain had taken a toll on his life. Opening up about his journey, Stuart shared, “I joined Man v Fat because I was on a weight loss journey and I always dreamed of playing football again. I suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome/M.E and reactive hypoglycemia, this also affected my mental health. I was told by doctors if I lost a lot of weight this would help with my symptoms and improve my overall quality of life.” Initially weighing 17 stone, Stuart realised the need for change when he could no longer match his children’s energy levels.

Joining the Man v Fat programme in Paisley proved to be a turning point for Stuart. He highlighted the welcoming and supportive environment fostered by the programme, emphasising the camaraderie and motivation shared among participants facing similar challenges. Shedding 3.5 stone, Stuart’s transformation has not only boosted his physical health but also his mental wellbeing.

Describing his newfound sense of accomplishment, Stuart reflected on a recent achievement of climbing Ben Lomond, a feat he had long aspired to achieve. Encouraging other men facing weight issues and mental health struggles, Stuart expressed, “This programme is everything to me. I have found a real sense of community in Paisley Man v Fat. Not just the team that I play for but the club as a whole.”

The Man v Fat Paisley programme, which convenes every Wednesday at Powerleague Paisley, has garnered participation from around 8,500 men across more than 150 clubs in the UK.
