Delighted West Lothian School Achieves 10th Green Flag Award
Linlithgow Bridge Primary School in West Lothian is celebrating a remarkable achievement as it receives its tenth Green Flag award for its commitment to being environmentally friendly. The prestigious Green Flag Award is the highest accolade in the international Eco-Schools programme and was presented to the school by Keep Scotland Beautiful, an environmental charity.
To mark the 30th anniversary of the Eco-Schools and Young Reporters for the Environment programmes, Keep Scotland Beautiful organized various activities including online assemblies, live lessons, and celebration challenges. As part of the celebrations, schools reaching significant milestones were visited to acknowledge their success. Linlithgow Bridge Primary School had the honour of a visit from Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Education and Learning Officer, Nicola Davidson, who presented the school’s Eco-Committee with a certificate in recognition of their tenth Green Flag.
Barry Fisher, the CEO of Keep Scotland Beautiful, expressed his pride and admiration for the efforts of the students, saying, “It’s great that we were able to visit Linlithgow Bridge to present a certificate of achievement and to hear from the children, young people, and educators about their inspiring action and commitment to improving our environment.”
Eco-Schools is a global sustainable schools programme operated by the Foundation for Environmental Education and delivered by Keep Scotland Beautiful. Launched in the UK in 1994, the programme has made a significant impact on promoting sustainability and environmental awareness among school communities.
