Vladimir Putin fires WW3 warning shot as Russia unleashes new rocket on Ukraine

Vladimir Putin has fired a warning shot towards the possibility of World War III by unleashing a new rocket on Ukraine. The Russian President has issued a threat indicating his readiness to use the intermediate-range missile again against Ukraine or any other country seen as an enemy. Putin’s statement was made during a nationwide address on television, marking his first appearance in almost two weeks. The strike comes as retaliation for recent attacks from Ukraine using US and British missiles on Russian territory earlier in the week. Putin assured that advance warnings would be given before firing the rockets to allow civilians to evacuate, The Mirror has reported.

The newly used ‘Oreshnik’ rockets have the capability to reach speeds of Mach 10, traveling approximately 3 kilometers per second. Putin emphasised that even the US would struggle to intercept these rockets. The Russian President’s message included a declaration that Moscow reserves the right to strike military installations of any country that permits the use of their weapons against Russia. This statement can be seen as a direct threat towards the UK following reports of a British Storm Shadow missile being launched in Kursk. Putin stated, “And in case of escalation of aggressive actions, we will respond resolutely in a mirror way.”

Earlier on, Ukraine accused Russia of launching an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) towards one of its cities overnight, but initial US assessments indicated the use of an intermediate-range ballistic missile instead. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the situation, expressing the act as a demonstration of fear from Russia once again. The strike resulted in two people being wounded, with an intercontinental ballistic missile allegedly launched from Russia’s Astrakhan region, near the Caspian Sea.

Zelenskyy criticised Russia’s actions, highlighting the ongoing tension between the two countries. The Kremlin refrained from commenting on the incident, which has further escalated the already strained relationship between Russia and Ukraine.

As the situation continues to unfold, tensions in the region are at a critical point, with the threat of military escalation looming large. The international community is closely monitoring the developments, hoping for a peaceful resolution to avoid any further conflict.

In summary, the latest developments involving Russia’s unleashing of a new rocket on Ukraine, as well as Ukraine’s accusations and responses, have heightened tensions in the region. Vladimir Putin’s warning of using such weapons against countries deemed as enemies adds to the complexity of the situation. The need for diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the conflict and prevent further violence is crucial in ensuring stability and peace in the region and beyond.
