Dr says ditch Botox and creams and eat these five foods to reverse ageing

A health expert is advocating for a natural approach to combat premature aging by recommending a diet rich in superfoods packed with essential vitamins and minerals. Dr Eric Berg DC, known for his expertise in healthy ketosis and intermittent fasting, suggests steering clear of Botox, creams, and serums and focusing on nourishing the body from the inside out. In a recent YouTube video titled ‘How to reverse ageing’, he shares valuable anti-aging tips with his vast audience of 12 million subscribers.

Dr Berg explains that aging leads to the formation of wrinkles and lines due to a decrease in collagen levels in the body’s connective tissues. Factors such as antibiotics, UV radiation, high sugar intake, and poor diet can accelerate collagen breakdown and premature aging. Collagen, a vital protein for skin, bones, and tissues, declines as early as age 20, making it crucial to maintain through diet and exercise. Dr Berg emphasises that certain exercises like planks, eccentric exercises, and sprinting can stimulate collagen production and improve overall health.

When it comes to food choices, Dr Berg highlights key vitamins and minerals that can help reverse aging effects. Vitamin C, essential for collagen synthesis, can be found in foods like raw sauerkraut. Vitamin K2, known for its skin benefits, is abundant in sources like liver, egg yolk, and butter. Vitamin D and magnesium play crucial roles in collagen preservation, while zinc and copper aid in skin preservation and wound healing. Quality protein sources like grass-fed beef provide amino acids necessary for collagen production.

Dr Berg also mentions the benefits of intermittent fasting in triggering autophagy, a process that can have rejuvenating effects on the body. By abstaining from food for 10 to 16 hours, the body utilises its fat reserves for energy, promoting the production of ketones linked to improved cognitive function and disease prevention. While intermittent fasting may not be suitable for everyone, incorporating a balanced diet, regular exercise, and adequate sleep are essential for healthy aging.

It’s important to bear in mind that while certain foods can support collagen production and reduce visible signs of aging, they may not halt the natural aging process entirely. However, making informed dietary choices and lifestyle changes can contribute to maintaining youthful skin and overall well-being.
