A charity based in Perthshire is spreading Christmas joy to war-torn Ukraine by sending 800 boxes of gifts on a lorry departing later this week. This initiative, organised by TASH for Ukraine, marks the third consecutive year that the charity has sent Christmas presents to the country. The boxes, filled with age and gender-specific items such as stationary, hats, gloves, games, and sweets, were lovingly put together by volunteers.
Deborah Ovens, vice chairperson of TASH for Ukraine, expressed gratitude to the volunteers for their efforts in bringing joy to the children and adults in Ukraine. She highlighted the importance of remembering and supporting those in need, especially during challenging times. The charity received an overwhelming response from various individuals, Scout groups, Brownies, and schools, who contributed to the collection efforts.
Moreover, TASH for Ukraine is calling for continued donations to assist the Ukrainian people during the harsh winter months. Items such as canned food, toiletries, thermal socks, and baby essentials are among the requested donations to provide relief to those affected by the ongoing conflict. The charity emphasised the significance of ongoing support to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
As the lorry prepares to embark on its journey to Ukraine, the community spirit and generosity displayed by the volunteers and donors serve as a beacon of hope and solidarity for the recipients of these Christmas gifts. The initiative not only delivers tangible support but also conveys a message of compassion and solidarity from Perthshire to Ukraine during challenging times.
