Santa Claus made a grand entrance into Kirkcudbright for a fun-filled day that delighted the locals. Despite Storm Bert causing disruptions, Santa safely arrived in Kirkcudbright to the excitement of a crowd of children eagerly waiting to meet him. Instead of his usual boat entrance from Ross Island, Santa took a rocket from Lapland and landed in the Planetarium before continuing his journey by sleigh to the Information Centre in Harbour Square.
The event, organised by Greyfriars Church and the Summer Festivities, offered various entertainment options such as stalls selling baked goods, bric-a-brac, cards by Julie Middleton, a bottle stall, a cake weight-guessing game, and a raffle. The day culminated in carol singing in the church, spreading festive cheer to all attendees. Hot drinks including mulled wine and juice, accompanied by mince pies and shortbread biscuits from Greyfriars House, were provided by the ladies of the Inner Wheel in support of the KBT Youth Project.
Rev. Alison Hudson expressed her delight at the successful event, stating, “I am so pleased in my first year in charge of Greyfriars and St Mary’s Gatehouse of Fleet that the sun shone after all the rain and we had a successful event.” The community came together to celebrate the joyous occasion and create lasting memories for the children and families in attendance.
