St Andrew’s Hospice to host ‘Santa’s Zippity Doo Dash’ fundraiser at Strathclyde Park

St Andrew’s Hospice is set to host the ‘Santa’s Zippity Doo Dash’ fundraiser at Strathclyde Park on December 8. This festive event aims to raise funds for the Airdrie charity, which provides specialized palliative care to individuals with life-limiting illnesses. In collaboration with Active NL and even Santa Claus himself, the hospice plans to engage over 200 participants in a variety of activities around the Lanarkshire park.

The event will kick off with a timed 5km run at 9am, followed by an interactive walk around the park starting at 10.30am. Participants can look forward to exciting challenges such as finding a Gingerbread person, taking a selfie with an elfie, enjoying a Rave with the Hospice Reindeer, hunting for The Grinch, and a special visit from Santa. Additionally, there will be a unique opportunity for thrill-seekers to zip slide 1000 feet across Strathclyde Loch, open to those over the age of 12.

This year’s Santa Dash and zip slide have been made possible through the generous support of DMI Fire & Security and AMEY, respectively. Andy Flynn, the hospice’s schools and communities development coordinator, expressed excitement for the upcoming event, highlighting the inclusive nature of the activities and thanking the sponsors for their contributions towards essential care.

Registration for the Santa Dash is £10 per person and includes a Santa suit or reindeer antlers, various goodies, and a finisher’s medal. Groups of four can take advantage of a special rate of £30. For those looking to experience the exhilarating zip slide, registration costs £25 and includes a Santa Suit, a special medal, and a speedboat trip on the loch to reach the zip slide area.

In summary, the ‘Santa’s Zippity Doo Dash’ fundraiser at Strathclyde Park promises a day filled with festive fun and charitable spirit as St Andrew’s Hospice teams up with local partners and sponsors to raise funds for their palliative care services. Participants can look forward to a range of activities, including a 5km run, interactive challenges, and a thrilling zip slide across the loch, all in support of a worthy cause.
