The inspiration behind the fundraising effort was David’s granddaughter, Jamie-Leigh McNeillie, who at 16 years old, has faced health challenges since birth. Jamie-Leigh was born premature and diagnosed with absent pulmonary valve syndrome, leading to several surgeries and ongoing medical care throughout her life.
Despite her health struggles, Jamie-Leigh has shown determination and resilience, which served as motivation for David and his friends to take on the charity swim. Natalie, Jamie-Leigh’s mother, shared how her daughter has faced numerous hospital visits and procedures with strength and grace.
