Annan Prepares for Festive Celebrations
Annan is gearing up for a festive extravaganza as the town gets ready to kick off the Christmas season with a day full of free entertainment and live music on Saturday, November 30. The highlight of the event will be a lantern parade and lights switch-on, promising a magical experience for all attendees.
The Dumfries and Galloway town is buzzing with anticipation, with the iconic Christmas tree outside the town hall already set up, thanks to the generous support of Charles Lockhart of Robgill Mains Farm, Kirtlebridge. The Annan Christmas Lights Committee has worked tirelessly to ensure a spectacular lineup of activities for the day.
The lantern parade is scheduled to begin at 4.45pm from the Xtra Special car park, proceeding towards the town hall for the official lights switch-on at 5.15pm by Young Citizen of the Year Tierney Garner. Before the big moment, locals can enjoy a variety of performances on stage in front of the War Memorial, hosted by Andrea Keenan.
The entertainment roster includes the South West of Scotland Piping and Drumming Academy, Annan Town Band, Highland Hustle with Charley, and music from Caroline Sharkey. Additionally, from 1pm to 4pm on the High Street, there will be activities like magic juggling by Graham Benson, balloon modelling by Ranger J from Kingdom Of Creatures, and craft fairs at the Market Hall, Downies Wynd, and The Corner House Hotel.
Various attractions will be spread throughout the town, such as Santa’s grotto at St Andrew’s Church rooms, photo opportunities at The Corner House with Becky’s Photography, a forging workshop with blacksmith Nate Robinson, and face painting and tattoos for children by Paint and Sparkles. As a special treat, Potts Amusements will offer fun fair rides at the Xtra Special car park.
