Drivers arrested for drug offences as part of Lanarkshire cops’ road safety crackdown
Three men and a woman have been arrested for alleged drug offences as part of a recent road safety crackdown by police in Lanarkshire.

One such incident occurred at Mahon Court in Moodiesburn, where officers noticed a car parked with the engine running and multiple individuals inside. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officers detected a strong smell of cannabis. Subsequently, all occupants were detained for a search, leading to the arrest of a 23-year-old driver who was found in possession of herbal material. A roadside drug swab allegedly tested positive for cannabis, resulting in the driver’s arrest and further blood tests.
In another incident on Cliffvale Road in Chryston, officers encountered a car with a strong cannabis odour emanating from it. A 21-year-old driver and a 20-year-old passenger were detained for a search, during which the driver was found with a clear bag containing white powder. A roadside drug swab indicated the presence of cocaine, leading to the driver’s arrest for further testing.
At Drumpellier Country Park in Coatbridge, officers observed a car parked with the engine running and detected a strong smell of cannabis. The 18-year-old driver was found in possession of herbal material, and a roadside drug swab revealed the presence of both cocaine and cannabis. The driver was subsequently taken into custody for blood tests.
Additionally, during the road safety initiative, officers spotted a 26-year-old woman, known to be disqualified from driving, behind the wheel at The Oval in Glenboig. Further checks revealed she was driving without valid insurance, leading to her arrest for court appearance the following day.
