Turkey surgery ‘threatened to hold mum hostage’ after botched £8k ‘mummy makeover’

A mother has recounted a terrifying experience where a clinic in Turkey allegedly threatened to keep her hostage unless she paid for a botched cosmetic surgery. Holly Guest, a 31-year-old mother-of-three, travelled to Turkey for a series of cosmetic procedures known as a ‘mummy makeover’, including a tummy tuck, breast implants with an uplift, and liposuction, after successfully undergoing a gastric sleeve operation to lose weight. Despite paying £7,900 for the surgeries, Holly claimed she woke up from the operation with multiple complications, leading to collapses and blood transfusions.

Following the surgery, Holly was hit with an unexpected bill of £8,000 for additional care she needed. When she refused to pay the extra charge, she alleged that the clinic staff threatened to prevent her return home by cancelling her flight. Feeling intimidated and scared, Holly rushed to the airport and booked another flight to escape the situation. She subsequently discovered three haematomas in her stomach, requiring further surgeries back in the UK to address the complications.

Holly shared her ordeal, revealing that the positive reviews she had seen were allegedly fake profiles by the clinic. She recounted feeling insecure about her appearance despite her husband’s reassurances and emphasized the traumatic experience of feeling like she might not see her children again after the surgery. Distressed by the threats made by the clinic staff, Holly felt compelled to leave the country to ensure her safety and peace of mind.

Reflecting on the incident, Holly urged others to think twice before undergoing cosmetic surgeries abroad, as the risks and complications can outweigh the cost savings. She expressed regret over her decision and highlighted the ongoing physical and emotional challenges she faces as a result of the botched procedure. Holly’s story serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of thorough research and consideration before opting for cosmetic treatments, especially in unfamiliar settings.
