The Rutherglen primary school’s parent council was overwhelmed by the enthusiastic turnout for the annual Christmas fair fundraiser. Taking place at Calderwood Primary in Buchanan Drive on Saturday, November 30, the event saw a remarkable response from the local community, with hundreds of people flocking to the school grounds. Santa made a special appearance, delighting children with his grotto and bringing along a couple of his reindeers to spread holiday cheer.
The fair featured a variety of attractions, including Santa’s grotto, the opportunity to meet the reindeer up close, a traders’ hall, cafe, home baking, games, eco-uniforms, a toy and book sale, as well as raffle and tombolas. From 10 am to 1 pm, the parent council-organised event raised an impressive £9300 in pure profit for the school, marking it as the most successful fundraising event to date.
Elaine Miller, the chair of the parent council, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support received from the community. Volunteers, including school staff and dedicated individuals who helped set up and run the stalls, played a crucial role in the success of the event.
