A new car wash venture has been granted approval for Whitletts Road in Ayr, as reported by the Daily Record. The site at 169 Whitletts Road, which had seen various planning applications in the past, including plans for a retail development with a drive-through coffee shop, will now be transformed into a car wash business. The location, previously a petrol station, had remained vacant after multiple failed proposals following the petrol station’s closure.
The recent application for the car wash business was submitted to South Ayrshire Council by Edesign Architecture & Planning Ltd on behalf of TDR Group Holdings Ltd from Dundonald. The plans include six covered car wash bays and a storage container in the middle for equipment and materials. The proposal involved changing the site from a petrol filling station to a car wash, with additional structures like a canopy, valet bays, and fencing.
Council documents supporting the approval stated that the venture could bring new job opportunities and was in line with the site’s previous use as a car wash. The council also noted that the new business would not significantly impact traffic or noise levels in the area, considering its historical commercial use. The council highlighted that the site’s location in a local centre and its past as a petrol station and car wash aligned with the current proposal.
The upcoming car wash business on Whitletts Road signifies a positive development for the area, providing employment prospects and utilising the site effectively. This approval showcases the council’s support for economic initiatives that align with the community’s needs and contribute to local business growth. With the green light given for the car wash venture, residents and motorists can look forward to a new service option on Whitletts Road in the near future.
