A cleaning expert has recently shared a cost-effective and time-saving method to tackle mould in bathroom tiles and grout. Craig Phillips from Bathroom Mountain disclosed a simple yet efficient cleaning hack that does not require extensive scrubbing or expensive products. Mould is a common issue in bathrooms due to the warm, damp environment, making it challenging to eliminate. However, with this new tip, banishing mould may become much easier.
Phillips suggested using cotton wool and bleach as the key ingredients for this cleaning technique. By soaking strips of cotton wool in bleach and laying them along the mouldy grout lines overnight, the bleach works effectively to remove the mould without much effort. The following morning, the results are said to be visibly impressive, leaving the grout looking revitalised. Phillips highlighted that bleach’s antifungal properties make it an ideal solution for tackling mould, aided by the cotton wool which ensures direct contact and prolonged exposure to the bleach for thorough cleaning.
For coloured grout, vinegar can be used as a natural and safe alternative cleaner. By spraying undiluted white vinegar on the affected areas and letting it sit for an hour before rinsing with warm water, mould can be effectively removed. To prevent the return of mould, enhancing ventilation in the bathroom, regular cleaning of tiles and grout to reduce moisture, and applying a grout sealer for added protection are recommended by the expert.
This innovative cleaning hack not only simplifies the process of removing mould from bathroom tiles but also offers an affordable and efficient solution for homeowners facing this common issue. By utilising household items like cotton wool and bleach, maintaining a clean and mould-free bathroom may be more achievable than previously thought.
