A modern new home project near the luxury Trump Turnberry Hotel and golf resort has received the green light for development. The plan involves demolishing a derelict stone-built property located at 2 Maidens Road, just a short distance from the prestigious resort and the A77 junction. The proposed new home will be built to high standards, incorporating renewable energy sources, advanced insulation, and modern construction techniques to reduce its carbon footprint.
The project aims to redevelop a brownfield site by replacing the existing ruinous house with a contemporary dwelling. The site’s design includes the retention of unprotected trees, alongside the planting of additional trees and shrubs along the A77 Kirkoswald Road boundary to enhance privacy and reduce noise pollution from passing vehicles. South Ayrshire Council recently approved the proposals under delegated powers, recognising the project’s alignment with residential development principles and sustainable practices.
Initially facing objections from SEPA (Scottish Environment Protection Agency) regarding flood risk, the applicant, Raymond Dorrian, successfully addressed these concerns with supplementary information. Following revisions, SEPA now has no objections to the development plans, signalling a positive step forward for the project.
