Hitting the road for a great Dumfries and Galloway cause

Tractor and truck drivers in Dumfries and Galloway rallied together to support a charitable cause as they embarked on an illuminated Christmas run from Lockerbie to Dumfries and back. The event, organised by Ryan Muir, saw a record-breaking 282 vehicles participate, raising over £15,000 for the Neonatal Unit at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

Supporters gathered at the Lockerbie auction mart to send off the decorated vehicles, with local businesses and organisations also playing a vital role in making the event a success. The inspiring display of solidarity and generosity from the public and participants deeply touched organizer Ryan Muir, who expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support received.

Despite facing challenging weather conditions, including snow and treacherous roads, the participants persevered, with the event exceeding expectations with even more vehicles joining compared to previous years. The fundraiser, dedicated to the memory of Carolyne Muir, who passed away earlier in the year, held special significance for the community and the Muir family.

Ryan Muir, along with his wife Becky, initiated the charity tractor run to give back to the Neonatal Unit that cared for their daughter and niece when they were born prematurely. The event, now in its third year, continues to raise funds and awareness for the unit, acknowledging the crucial support provided to families during difficult times.

The festive tractor and truck run not only illuminated the streets but also hearts, fostering a sense of community spirit and goodwill. The Muir family’s dedication to the cause, despite personal challenges, serves as a touching reminder of the power of unity and compassion within a community.

The success of the event reflects the unwavering support and generosity of the participants and supporters, paving the way for continued efforts to make a positive impact on the lives of premature babies and their families. The fundraiser stands as a shining example of how a collective effort can bring light and hope to those in need, embodying the true spirit of the holiday season.
