Gartcosh Primary School in Lanarkshire has been recognised for its commitment to sustainability by receiving a commendation from environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful. The school was visited by Keep Scotland Beautiful’s chief executive, Barry Fisher, and education and learning officer, Nicola Davidson, who presented the school’s eco-committee with a certificate to mark their achievement.
The commendation was awarded as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the international Eco-Schools and Young Reporters for the Environment programmes. Keep Scotland Beautiful hosted an online assembly, organised live lessons, and set celebration challenges for schools participating in the milestone celebrations. Gartcosh Primary School was among the schools honoured with a Commendation for Learning for Sustainability accolade, which is one of the five main Climate Action Schools outcomes.
