Newmains locals recently gathered for the festive switching on of the village’s new Christmas lights. Despite the rain, a large crowd was present to witness the official lighting of the new living tree and decorations, marking the beginning of the holiday season in style.
The event was made possible through a successful fundraising campaign, with contributions from various community members and businesses. The Newmains Community and Conference Centre expressed their gratitude on social media, acknowledging the support of Jordan Electrics, Bellway Homes, and Field & Lawn for their contributions to the event. They also thanked Councillor Robert McKendrick for his assistance in coordinating the preparations.
The festive atmosphere was enhanced by the participation of Newmains Primary School children, who performed beautiful songs, and Newmains Brass Band, who provided entertainment throughout the evening. Special thanks were also extended to Santa, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue, and all the stall holders who helped with fundraising efforts.
