House ‘explodes’ as 60 firefighters battle blaze and two rushed to hospital
Dozens of firefighters are battling a blaze in a residential street after a house exploded. Dramatic footage captured the moment the house on Ley Street exploded, causing a roaring blaze and injuring at least two people.
Firefighters responded to the house fire in Ilford, east London, after receiving alerts around 4.10 pm. Approximately 60 firefighters arrived at the scene to find the roof and first floor of the property ablaze. Two individuals were taken to a nearby hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

The London Fire Brigade utilized a 32-metre turntable ladder as a water tower to combat the fire from above. Fire crews from Ilford, Dagenham, Barking, and nearby fire stations swiftly responded to the incident following 25 calls received by the control room.
By 6.23 pm, the fire was successfully brought under control, though Ley Street and Brenton Road closures resulted in traffic delays in the surrounding areas. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire, as the community is urged to avoid the area with emergency services in attendance.
