Police in Dumfries have initiated an investigation following an incident where individuals on electric scooters attempted to rob a 67-year-old man in the Hardthorn Road area. The shocking attempted robbery took place on Saturday evening as the pensioner was walking on a path near Hardthorn Road at around 9 pm.
According to reports, two men on electric scooters approached the man and demanded money. Fortunately, the attempted robbery was unsuccessful, and the suspects, described as white males between the ages of 18 and 20 wearing dark clothing, fled the scene empty-handed.
Constable Laurie Clark urged anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to come forward. She also appealed to individuals who were in the area at the time and may have seen something suspicious to contact the police. Additionally, those with personal or dashcam footage were encouraged to reach out by calling 101 and quoting the incident number 3429 of December 7.
