A tragic incident unfolded at a bus stop where a teenager’s final moments were captured on Snapchat just before she was fatally stabbed in the neck. Elianne Andam, 15, was smiling and chatting on camera before Hassan Sentamu, 18, stabbed her with a 12cm kitchen knife in a fit of rage over a teddy bear. The attack occurred during an exchange of belongings between Sentamu and his ex-girlfriend, which did not go as planned.
Andam, on her way to school, confronted Sentamu when he failed to bring the agreed items for the swap. This confrontation led to a violent altercation where Sentamu chased Andam, cornered her, and stabbed her repeatedly. Earlier, Andam and her friends had confronted Sentamu, demanding he apologise to his ex-girlfriend for his disrespectful behaviour.
Despite claims that Andam and her friends made references to “acid” during the confrontation, it was highlighted in court that there was no actual threat of acid. Sentamu, armed with a knife, pursued Andam and carried out the fatal stabbing. The incident was captured on CCTV, showing the horrific attack that led to Andam’s tragic death.
Sentamu pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denied murdering Andam, citing a “loss of control” due to his autism. Prosecutors argued that the motive behind the attack was rooted in anger and a sense of disrespect towards him. The court heard how Sentamu had brooded over the confrontation and was determined not to let it go, leading to the fatal outcome.
