Detectives appeal for information after teenage boy seriously assaulted in Moodiesburn

Detectives are seeking information following a serious assault on a teenage boy in Moodiesburn. The incident occurred on Friday, December 6 between 8.15pm and 8.40pm near Glenburn Avenue and the shops in Glenmanor Avenue. The victim, a 13-year-old, was attacked by a group of youths described as being between 12 and 20 years old. The assailants were wearing dark clothing with hoods up and their faces covered.

Police are actively investigating the case, reviewing CCTV footage and conducting door-to-door enquiries to identify the suspects. In particular, they are interested in speaking to a woman who came to the aid of the victim by taking him home before he received medical treatment. Detectives are urging any motorists who were in the area and may have dash-cam footage to come forward as it could provide valuable information to assist with the investigation.

Detective Constable Craig Hartley of CID stated, “Our investigation into this serious assault is ongoing. It’s important that the woman who helped the victim comes forward to assist our enquiries.” Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3582 of December 6, 2024.
