Here’s Why Ryan Reynolds Doesn’t Think He’ll Star In Another Deadpool Movie

Ryan Reynolds has cast doubt on the possibility of starring in another Deadpool film in the future. The Canadian actor, who has portrayed the Marvel anti-hero in various movies, including the recent “Deadpool vs. Wolverine” alongside Hugh Jackman, shared his reservations during an interview on Variety’s Actors On Actors series.

Speaking to Andrew Garfield, Ryan explained that he believes the character of Deadpool thrives on “scarcity” and “surprise”, suggesting that taking on the role again may not align with his current priorities. He mentioned the significant gap between the last two Deadpool films and how portraying the character demands a considerable commitment of time and energy that he is hesitant to dedicate while being a present parent to his four children.

While Ryan did not completely rule out reprising his role as Deadpool in the future, he expressed his preference for the character to take on a supporting role rather than being the central focus. He even hinted at the possibility of Deadpool appearing in another actor’s movie, suggesting Channing Tatum as a potential lead for such a project.

Channing Tatum, previously linked to a standalone film as the X-Men character Gambit, made a surprise cameo appearance in the recent “Deadpool vs. Wolverine.” Despite Ryan Reynolds keeping the door open for future Deadpool appearances, he emphasised the importance of creating a compelling narrative that challenges the character and avoids repetition.

In other news, “Deadpool vs. Wolverine” received a Golden Globe nomination in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category, adding to the accolades of the franchise.

The uncertainty surrounding Ryan Reynolds’ future as Deadpool raises questions about the direction of the popular Marvel character on the big screen. Fans will have to wait and see how the story unfolds and whether Deadpool will make a comeback in a different capacity in future Marvel projects.
