Stirling charity launches festive fundraising draw for signed rugby shirt

An award-winning Stirling charity has launched a festive fundraising draw to offer Scottish rugby fans the opportunity to win a signed piece of sporting memorabilia. The Equi-Power RDA charity, established in 2015, focuses on supporting individuals with diverse physical and cognitive needs through equine therapeutic activities. The charity’s initiatives aim to empower people with disabilities, cognitive conditions, veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and families facing stress.

Facing financial pressures and increased operating costs common among charities during this time of year, Equi-Power is seeking new avenues to raise essential funds in the winter months. Recently, two local businessmen, Michael McNeill and Colin Easton, directors of engineering consultancy ControlPro Ltd, generously donated a signed shirt from the Scotland v Portugal rugby match at Murrayfield last month. The shirt, gifted to them by former international players Johnnie Beattie and Goncalo Uva, will be the prized item in the fundraising draw.

Colin expressed, “We know the value of signed sports memorabilia in auctions and believe this shirt could help Equi-Power raise significant funds. It may seem like a small gesture to us, but it can make a substantial difference for them.” Amanda Namey, Service Manager of Equi-Power RDA, expressed gratitude for the shirt donation, noting its uniqueness in boosting their fundraising efforts. The draw offers an original opportunity for supporters to contribute, with tickets priced at £20, available until December 20.

Amanda added, “We appreciate the generosity of Michael and Colin as we navigate financial challenges during the festive season. We hope this signed shirt finds its way to a rugby enthusiast’s tree this Christmas.” The framed shirt, once won, will be available for collection before the holiday. Readers are encouraged to participate in the draw to support Equi-Power in their vital work within the community.

In summary, the Equi-Power RDA charity in Stirling has launched a creative fundraising campaign by offering a signed rugby shirt in a festive draw to raise essential funds. The initiative showcases the generosity of local businesses and former rugby stars, highlighting the community’s support for empowering individuals with diverse needs through equine therapy activities during challenging times for charities.
