Deacon Blue star Ricky Ross to feature in film ‘Dignity’ about humanitarian work in Africa
Deacon Blue legend Ricky Ross will be making an appearance on the big screen in January, showcasing his humanitarian efforts in Africa through a documentary titled ‘Dignity’. The film, named after one of the Scottish rock band’s hits, is set to be screened at a special event in Glasgow next month.
Ricky Ross and his wife Lorraine have been avid supporters of the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF) for many years, participating in aid missions to Zambia, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The documentary will not only feature their work but also include two short films and a Q&A session with Ricky.
The filmmaker behind ‘Dignity’, James Cave, highlighted the importance of dignity in all aspects of SCIAF’s work, from assisting rural farmers in Zambia to empowering women and girls in their communities. The film captures the challenges and triumphs of SCIAF’s efforts in places like Kabwe, one of the world’s most polluted towns.
