A construction company has stepped in to supply cables for Christmas lights to be installed in Newmains, as reported by the Daily Record. Bellway Homes West Division’s construction team assisted in ensuring that the lights shone brightly on Newmains’ Christmas tree during this year’s festive switch-on event. The Newmains community had faced challenges in fundraising for a Christmas tree display at the Newmains roundabout near Wishaw in previous years.
To address the issue, the community council decided to purchase a living tree to reduce costs and allow for future use. However, the positioning of the tree required ground works on the roundabout. When construction director Andy Borland of Bellway Homes West Division learned about the situation, he arranged for Advance Construction to provide a team to handle the removal of existing hardstanding, excavation of trenches for cable installation, and the reinstatement of the ground.
Local councillor Robert John McKendrick expressed gratitude for the assistance, highlighting the benefits of having a permanent tree site for community events. He mentioned that the new location would offer a safer environment for children to view the tree up close and enable activities like a Christmas market and carol singing by local nursery children.
Andy Borland from Bellway Homes Ltd (Scotland West) shared his delight in supporting the community and expressed excitement for the community’s enjoyment of the Christmas tree. Bellway Homes is currently developing a new housing project called Eastview in Newmains, offering three- and four-bedroom homes.
