Six people injured in Glasgow bus crash released from hospital as man remains in ‘critical condition’

Six people who were injured in a bus crash in Glasgow have been discharged from the hospital, while one man remains in a critical condition. The incident involved a double-decker bus colliding into a railway bridge in Glasgow. The crash occurred on Cook Street around 5:55 pm on Saturday, with 11 passengers on board the First Bus vehicle. Pictures from the scene showed significant damage to the bus, with the front of the roof torn off. It was reported that the bus was travelling down the wrong road at the time of the collision.

Emergency services responded to the scene, and a 60-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. A woman aged 52 and five men aged 30, 32, 33, 33, and 41 were also transported to the hospital for treatment for minor injuries and have since been discharged. Four other individuals who were checked at the scene did not report any injuries. Fortunately, the driver of the bus was unharmed in the incident.

Spike Turner, a 26-year-old sound engineer who was a passenger on the bus, described the moment of impact, stating that the front of the bus collapsed upon hitting the bridge. The collision caused external parts of the bus to swing down and injure passengers in the front. Rail lines were temporarily suspended due to the crash’s impact on the bridge, which disrupted train services between Glasgow Central and Cardonald but later resumed. Road closures in the area were lifted around 12:30 am on Sunday.
