A heartfelt tribute has been paid by a devastated dad-of-three to his late mother, describing her as a special woman who meant everything to him. Robbie Dale, aged 29, sadly lost his mother, Gillian Woods, at the age of 54 in 2021 after a year-long battle with bowel cancer. Robbie expressed his remorse for not being able to afford a headstone for her grave, attributing it to financial constraints as a young father, which has left him feeling guilty. In an effort to honour his mum’s memory, the East Lothian dad has initiated a fundraiser aiming to raise £2500 to cover the costs of a headstone.
Robbie described his mother as a dedicated woman who went above and beyond to create cherished memories with her children. He reminisced about her taking him and his brothers to enjoy outings to arcades in Portobello, playing pool, visiting the zoo, and other family activities. Despite facing health challenges, including a stroke and a hip injury, Gillian always prioritised her children, making sacrifices to care for them. Tragically, she was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 and passed away the following year.
Expressing his deep love and gratitude for his mother, Robbie emphasised how much it would mean to him to be able to provide her with a headstone to honour her memory properly. He acknowledged the financial difficulties he has faced, particularly as a father of three young children, leading him to seek support through fundraising efforts.
