Wishaw Community Police officers recently executed a successful Festive Vehicle Policing Action Plan aimed at enhancing road safety and ensuring compliance with traffic laws. Running from December 10 to 19, the initiative involved a series of proactive measures to promote responsible driving during the holiday period.
Throughout the operation, officers carried out various activities such as vehicle stops, moving vehicle checks, breath tests, and collaborated with North Lanarkshire Council on addressing parking issues. Their high visibility presence on roads known for speeding issues helped in deterring potential violations.
The results of the operation were significant, with 149 moving vehicle checks, 54 vehicle stops, and nine negative breath tests conducted. Additionally, three vehicles were found to have no insurance, three had no MOT, one stolen vehicle was recovered, and various other offences such as a vehicle registration offence and a child seatbelt offence were reported.
A spokesperson from Police Scotland highlighted that the overall aim of the coordinated efforts was to improve public safety, reduce traffic incidents, and encourage responsible driving behaviour.
