North Lanarkshire Council confirms series of road closures in Shotts and Newmains

North Lanarkshire Council has announced a schedule of road closures set to take place in Shotts and Newmains. This comes as the council prepares for necessary network improvement works in the region. The closures are set to occur in January and will impact several key routes in the area.

The B7010 Main Street, stretching from its junction with B717 Burnbrae Road eastwards to Sandyvale Avenue, will be closed on January 14 for the purpose of Scottish Water network improvement works. While the closure is in effect, access for vehicles and pedestrians will be allowed where possible. Motorists on the west side of the closure seeking access to the east side should plan to divert via specified alternative routes to avoid disruptions.

In Bonkle, Murdstoun Road is scheduled for closure from 10pm on January 15 to 7am on January 17. This closure is necessary for essential road bridge maintenance. Drivers who usually travel on the south-east side of the closure to access the north-west side are advised to follow a designated diversion route to reach their destinations safely.

Furthermore, Abernethyn Road in Newmains will be temporarily closed from January 25 to 29 to facilitate telecommunication network upgrade works. Motorists on the west side of the closure aiming to reach the east side should follow a specific diversion route to minimise inconveniences during this period.

As road closures are set to impact commuters in these areas, it is important for residents and motorists to plan their journeys accordingly. By following the designated diversion routes and keeping abreast of updates from North Lanarkshire Council, individuals can navigate these closures with minimal disruptions to their daily routines.

In summary, North Lanarkshire Council has confirmed a series of road closures in Shotts and Newmains for essential maintenance and improvement works. The closures are scheduled to take place in January and will necessitate diversions and alternate routes for affected motorists.
