A teenager was brutally attacked by a gang in a horrifying knife incident in the city centre. The 17-year-old victim was slashed multiple times during the attack in Liverpool city centre, leading to a significant police response on December 30. The incident occurred on Williamson Street, after which the victim made his way to Whitechapel. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene and the victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment of his wounds. Fortunately, he is now in a stable condition.
Following the attack, several streets in the city centre were cordoned off by local police. The cordon was placed on Whitechapel, including areas outside the Metquarter, Tesco Express, and the Everyman Cinema, as well as parts of Stanley Street, Button Street, Williamson Street, and Leigh Street. While some cordons have been reduced in size, the cordon on Whitechapel remains active as officers conduct initial investigations, including reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses.
Chief Inspector Andy Hughes emphasized the seriousness of the assault and urged the public to come forward with any information that could assist in identifying the perpetrators.
