Early Steps Nursery in Bathgate Raises Thousands for Charity
Early Steps Nursery in Bathgate has demonstrated incredible generosity by raising funds for two worthy charities, the Team Jak Foundation and Breast Friends & Family. Throughout the year, the nursery organised various fundraising events to support these causes, providing vital funds for their community work. The annual ‘Classics Against Cancer’ car show, a key event in their fundraising calendar, welcomed over 300 classic cars, motorbikes, and vintage bicycles at The Pyramids in September. Attendees enjoyed a range of stalls and activities suitable for all ages.
In addition to the car show, the nursery hosted sponsored events like an inflatable obstacle course, where both children and adults took part to raise money for charity. Early Steps Nursery has a long-standing commitment to supporting Team Jak and Breast Friends & Family. The children at the nursery not only participate in these events but also learn about the charities’ missions and even get to meet the people they are helping.
This year, the nursery presented cheques of £2900 each to Team Jak and Breast Friends & Family. Carol Armstrong, owner and manager of Early Steps, expressed her gratitude for the community’s generosity, highlighting how the funds directly benefit families facing challenging times due to illness. She emphasised the importance of teaching children about compassion, empathy, and the impact of small gestures on others’ lives.
Looking ahead, Early Steps Nursery is already planning its 2025 fundraising initiatives, with the next ‘Classics Against Cancer’ event scheduled for September 6, 2025. Anyone interested in contributing to or learning more about the nursery’s charitable endeavours can contact Carol Armstrong directly.
It is heartwarming to see a nursery instilling values of kindness and giving back in children at such a young age. The commitment of Early Steps Nursery to supporting local charities sets a fantastic example for the community and teaches valuable lessons to both children and adults about the power of generosity and empathy. Through their efforts, they not only raise funds but also awareness, making a real and positive impact on those in need.
