An NHS stalwart from Linlithgow has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List. Ruth Robertson, who serves as the Head of Programme for the NHS Education for Scotland, received this prestigious honour for her outstanding services to Public Health and Health Protection in Scotland. With over 30 years of experience in Health Protection, Ruth has made a significant impact on education and workforce development in NHS Scotland and beyond.
Throughout her career, Ruth has played a vital role in establishing and leading the Covid-19 vaccination programme, ensuring that hundreds of staff and volunteers were equipped with the necessary skills efficiently. Her dedication and efforts have left a lasting legacy that has greatly improved and protected the health and wellbeing of individuals in Scotland, the UK, and internationally.
In addition to Ruth’s recognition, Christine McGinness, also from Linlithgow, was honoured with a CBE for her contributions to Public Health in Scotland as the Co-Director at the Population Health Directorate of the Scottish Government. Other notable awardees include Sandra Hardacre for voluntary service to Athletics in Scotland and Paralympics champion Nathan MacQueen for his services to Archery.
