A Scottish heart surgeon, Dr Vincenzo Giordano, who was found guilty of harassing and assaulting a woman, is now facing the prospect of being banned from his profession. According to a statement on the MPTS website, the inquiry will focus on the allegations that Giordano was discharged without penalty for assaulting “Miss A” on November 12, 2022, and was also given a non-harassment order. The statement further alleges that after the assault, Giordano pursued and assaulted the same individual.
Giordano’s LinkedIn profile indicates that he commenced working as a cardiac surgeon at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in 2012, subsequently being promoted to a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon in September 2015. His profile highlights his special interest in aortic surgery at NHS Lothian after studying medicine and cardiac surgery in Italy before relocating to the UK in 2017. NHS Lothian chose not to comment on the matter, citing their policy of not discussing individual employees.
