Edinburgh Airport is set to increase its drop-off fee to £6 for a 10-minute stay in an effort to reduce emissions, airport authorities announced. The new fee, which represents a £1 hike, will take effect starting next Monday, January 13, and will cover the cost of using the pick-up and drop-off area in a car. The airport management stated that this rise in fees is intended to make the use of the area more competitive with public transport, which is already used by around 37% of passengers.

The airport will continue to offer a free drop-off and pickup area, which has recently been relocated closer to the terminal. Additionally, local residents and electric vehicle users will still be eligible for a 50% discount for the first ten minutes of parking.
