In a distressing incident of road rage in Morningside, a Scottish teenager was left feeling “very scared” after a man allegedly punched and shattered her windscreen. The 18-year-old, who had recently passed her driving test, recounted the incident that took place on Sunday, January 5. According to the teenager, who chose to remain anonymous, the altercation began when a driver behind her started incessantly beeping his horn as she pulled out of Cluny Avenue onto Morningside Road.
Feeling confused by the aggressive behaviour, the young driver decided to pull over onto Maxwell Street to allow the man to pass. However, instead of driving on, the man overtook her, blocked her path, and proceeded to confront her by screaming at her window. As the situation escalated, the man reportedly punched the woman’s windscreen, causing it to shatter, before eventually leaving the scene.
The terrified teenager described her reaction as one of fear and confusion, stating, “It left me very scared and shaken up and was so confused on what to do.” Police Scotland confirmed receipt of a report regarding the vandalism of the vehicle on Maxwell Street and indicated that investigations are ongoing.
