However, her determination and hope never wavered, leading her to join fifty others for a Christmas dinner at Cambuslang Parish Church on Christmas Day.
The free Christmas meals, organized by Jane Bainbridge, the founder of Lanarkshire charity Choosing A New And Positive Employment (CANAPE), have been a tradition for the past five years, bringing joy and camaraderie to the local community. Mandy expressed her joy at being able to participate in the holiday festivities, highlighting the significance of the outing after years of being confined to her home due to mobility issues.
Mandy’s journey to the Christmas dinner was made possible by volunteer elf drivers Eileen and Heather, who picked her up from her home and accompanied her to the church, providing her with much-needed company and a change of scenery. Despite facing health challenges that have affected her mobility, Mandy remains hopeful for the future and is actively seeking solutions to improve her access to the outside world.
