De Sousa Abreu was found guilty of misconduct in public office after engaging in sexual activity with an inmate at HMP Wandsworth. Now incarcerated at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey, she is said to be residing in House Block 4, living amongst individuals including convicted killers.
HMP Bronzefield, the first purpose-built women’s prison in Britain, houses around 450 inmates and is segregated into different house blocks. House Block 4 is known for accommodating high-profile prisoners and those with good behaviour, offering better amenities such as en-suite showers. Reports suggest that De Sousa Abreu will spend half of her sentence in custody and the remainder on licence while coexisting with fellow prisoners like Letby and others with chilling criminal histories.
Former inmates have shared insights into life on House Block 4, highlighting both the challenges and unique experiences within the prison. Francesca Fattore, a former inmate, mentioned the substandard quality of food but also recalled occasional treats like chocolate doughnuts. She emphasised the importance of adapting to the environment, including interacting with fellow inmates with caution and staying resilient amidst potential provocations.
Another ex-inmate, Emily Duff, who encountered murderer Shauna Hoare during her time at the prison, noted an eerie presence surrounding Hoare despite her seemingly calm demeanour.
