A Scottish man, Christopher Harkins, who used dating apps like Tinder to prey on women has been exposed in a new BBC documentary. The show, titled “Disclosure: Matched with a Predator,” will reveal the crimes of the 38-year-old Harkins, who was convicted and jailed last year for terrorizing women he met on dating apps. Glasgow Live reported that Harkins would pretend to be a “perfect guy” to unsuspecting women on the apps, while in reality, he had a sinister agenda of violence and theft. He specifically targeted women who were intelligent, attractive, and ambitious, painting himself as generous and charming when, in fact, he was violent and deceitful.
Harkins was found guilty in a trial at the High Court in Paisley in May 2024 of raping one former partner and filming two women without their consent during intimate moments. One victim, a financial professional from London, was conned out of more than £16,000 by Harkins, who falsely claimed to own a currency exchange business. He persuaded her to pay for a luxury holiday and cover his supposed business debts, none of which materialized. As a result of his actions, Harkins was sentenced to 12 years in prison and added to the sex offenders register indefinitely. Non-harassment orders have also been put in place to protect his victims from any contact attempts.
