Scots Student Organises Festival to Fund Ambulance Deliveries to Ukraine and Gaza

Umran Ali Javaid, a Scottish student renowned for his philanthropic efforts, is set to host a cultural festival aimed at raising funds to continue providing ambulances to conflict-stricken regions like Ukraine and Gaza. Javaid, a student at Glasgow Caledonian University, has already transported over 40 emergency vehicles to various war zones, including Burma, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen, to aid in the evacuation of civilians and the treatment of the sick and injured.

In 2022, Javaid drove an ambulance to the Polish-Ukrainian border to assist refugees escaping the Russian invasion. Last year, he delivered another ambulance to the Egypt-Gaza border to offer medical support and evacuation services. Now, he plans to organise the “Fun For Life Fest” in Glasgow’s Tollcross Park in August, with a portion of the proceeds dedicated to purchasing more ambulances for humanitarian purposes.

The festival is expected to feature a lineup of musicians, comedians, social media influencers, and sports personalities, along with workshops and attractions like a ferris wheel and a drone light show. Javaid aims to acquire 15 ambulances through the event, with 14 destined for international distribution and one earmarked for donation to a care home in the UK. The festival is projected to attract 15,000 attendees and may expand into a three-day event in the future.

Javaid expressed his excitement for the festival, highlighting its family-friendly nature and the diverse entertainment options it will offer. He emphasised the festival’s altruistic purpose, stating that the ambulances acquired through the event would be dispatched to various countries worldwide. Further announcements regarding performers and activities at the festival are expected in the coming months. His initiative to organise a festival not only showcases his passion for helping others but also demonstrates the positive impact individuals can have on global crises. By combining entertainment with charity, Javaid’s festival serves as a beacon of hope and solidarity for those in need across the world.
