The Burnside Scout Group in Lanarkshire recently held an awards presentation to honour their dedicated leaders for their long service and completion of formal leadership training. The volunteers at the 113th Glasgow group, which includes sections for Squirrel, Beaver, Cub, Scout, and Explorer scouts, were celebrated at a gathering during a planning day and social event at the start of the new year. Among the leaders recognised were Allan Whiteford, Aileen Newton, and Michelle MacKenzie, who received the prestigious award of merit and the Wood badge for their commitment and training achievements.
Allan Whiteford, Aileen Newton, and Michelle MacKenzie were commended for their sustained service and dedication to the scout group. Additionally, Brian Gorman and Anne Small received Wood badges for their completion of leadership training, with Anne also receiving a good service commendation. Four volunteers, including Anne, Steven Burns, Emma Jane Harkins, and Joe Robertson, were awarded the Chief Scout’s commendation for their standout voluntary service of at least five years.
