Charity urges Lanarkshire locals to support people living with long-term conditions

Leading health charity, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, is calling on the residents of Lanarkshire to show support for individuals living with long-term conditions such as chest, heart, stroke issues, and Long Covid. The charity has unveiled its Tartan Tea Party fundraiser, set to take place on May 21 – International Tea Day – where numerous tea parties will be organised across the region to raise crucial funds for those living with the conditions they assist.

Scottish baker, author, GP, and Great British Bake Off finalist, Dr James Morton, has thrown his support behind the event by creating a special recipe for the fundraiser and sharing a cup of tea with stroke survivor Donna Cullinane. Dr. James expressed his excitement about the initiative, highlighting the importance of coming together to provide support for those facing challenges.

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland aims to reach 175,000 individuals living with their supported conditions by 2028 through their Community Healthcare Support Services. The funds raised through initiatives like the Tartan Tea Party play a vital role in helping the charity achieve this goal. The organisation offers various support services, including a free Advice Line, stroke nurses, online health information, support groups, and self-management courses.

Louise Macleod, Community Fundraiser at CHSS, emphasised the significance of hosting a Tartan Tea Party, stating that a simple cup of tea has the power to bring people together, share support, and make a difference. The fundraising team at CHSS is ready to assist anyone interested in participating, providing resources such as planning booklets, invitations, posters, quizzes, and more to help make each Tartan Tea Party a success.

To access these free resources and plan a memorable Tartan Tea Party, individuals can visit chss.org.uk/tartan-tea-party. The charity encourages groups of friends, families, schools, businesses, and community organisations to get involved in this meaningful cause and ensure that no life in Scotland is left ‘half-lived’.

In conclusion, the Tartan Tea Party fundraiser organised by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland presents a wonderful opportunity for the Lanarkshire community to unite, raise awareness, and support individuals living with long-term conditions. By coming together over a cup of tea, participants can make a positive impact and contribute to improving the lives of those in need.
