Leading health charity, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, is calling on the residents of West Lothian to show their support for individuals living with long-term chest, heart, and stroke conditions, including Long Covid. The charity has announced the launch of its Tartan Tea Party fundraiser, scheduled to take place on May 21 – International Tea Day. The aim of the fundraiser is to raise vital funds for those affected by the conditions supported by the charity.
Scottish baker, author, GP, and Great British Bake Off finalist, Dr James Morton, has lent his support to the event by creating a special recipe for the fundraiser. Dr Morton recently enjoyed a cup of tea with stroke survivor Donna Cullinane to mark the launch of the Tartan Tea Party initiative. The event is set to see numerous tea parties cropping up across the nation, bringing people together to raise awareness and funds for those living with chest, heart, and stroke conditions.
In a statement, Dr Morton expressed his delight in joining Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland for the Tartan Tea Party launch, emphasising the importance of coming together to support individuals who have faced significant challenges due to these conditions. He highlighted the opportunity the fundraiser presents to spread awareness about the charity’s impactful work and encouraged people to show their support.
Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland is dedicated to assisting individuals living with its supported conditions to lead fulfilling lives. The charity offers a range of support services, including a free Advice Line, stroke nurses, online health resources, support groups, and self-management courses. Through its Community Healthcare Support Services, CHSS aims to reach 175,000 individuals affected by its conditions by 2028.
The charity is urging residents of West Lothian to participate in the Tartan Tea Party by hosting their own tea gatherings, whether with friends, family, colleagues, or within community groups. By brewing up support for the fundraiser, individuals can contribute towards ensuring that those living with long-term conditions receive the necessary support and resources to enhance their quality of life.
Those interested in organising a Tartan Tea Party can access free planning resources, including booklets, invitations, posters, bunting, cake labels, quizzes, and more, by visiting the CHSS website. By coming together over a cup of tea, participants can make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals battling chest, heart, and stroke conditions in Scotland.
