Warm hubs have been established across Dumfries and Galloway to aid residents still experiencing power outages in the aftermath of Storm Eowyn. The Local Resilience Partnership in the region is collaborating with Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) to provide support to those impacted by the ongoing electricity supply disruptions.
According to a council spokesperson, around 1,200 properties in Dumfries and Galloway are currently without power, entering the fifth day of the outage. Engineers from SP Energy Networks have been diligently working under challenging conditions to restore power to affected areas.
In response to the situation, 12 warm hubs have been set up and will operate until 9 pm on Tuesday. These hubs are located in various areas including Dalbeattie, Johnstonebridge, Lockerbie, Moffat, Moniaive, Port William, Powfoot, Stranraer, Thornhill, Wanlockhead, Whithorn, providing essential amenities such as free soup, hot drinks, water, phone charging facilities, and a welcoming environment for affected residents.
The Local Resilience Partnership aims to supplement existing community support efforts and ensure that those affected by the power outages receive the necessary assistance during this challenging period. Residents facing issues are encouraged to reach out to SPEN by dialing 105 for further assistance.
