Scotland Braces for Heavy Snow and -8C Freeze as New Weather Maps Predict Arctic Blast
As weather maps predict a significant wall of snow sweeping across the UK in mid-February, Scotland is set to face freezing conditions and a chilling -8C Arctic freeze. Despite already enduring freezing temperatures and intense storms this month, the country is in for more wintry weather ahead.
The week has been noticeably cold, with temperatures expected to dip below freezing again on Friday night, and daytime temperatures remaining in single figures over the weekend. However, by mid-February, conditions are forecasted to become even more wintry. WXCharts data shows a snow band blanketing the UK on February 12, with the deepest snowfall anticipated in central Scotland, reaching around 13 centimetres.
Temperatures are also set to plummet, with western Scotland expected to see lows of -6C and subzero temperatures across the nation. Western England and northern Wales could experience temperatures as low as -2C, while the southeast of England could drop to -1C. Scotland is bracing for a bone-chilling -8C on February 13, with a further 22 centimetres of snowfall predicted for February 14.
The Met Office forecasts colder spells between February 4-13, with periods of wet weather likely in northwestern regions, accompanied by strong winds. The rest of the UK is anticipated to experience more settled conditions, with potential frost and fog due to lighter winds. Looking ahead to the later part of February, a northwest-southeast weather split is expected, with wetter and windier conditions in the north and more settled weather in the south.
