Ex-Gangster Expands Wrestling School to Help Kids in Glasgow Community
David McCallum, also known as Ravie Davie, is on a mission to make a positive impact in the community he once terrorised in Glasgow. The former gang member has expanded his Glasgow School of Wrestling, which serves as a safe haven for children at risk of falling into a life of crime and violence.
After setting up the wrestling school in Govan, Glasgow, in October 2022, McCallum saw the opportunity to provide a sanctuary for kids to stay away from the dangers of the streets. Now, the school is moving to a new permanent location in the former Linthouse Church and Sanctuary Gym, offering a larger space for more children to benefit from the program.
For McCallum, this initiative hits close to home as he struggled with his own demons after losing his mother to suicide at a young age. He aims to use his own experiences to guide and mentor the youth in the community, showing them that there is a better path to follow.
The new facility not only provides a wrestling school but also plans to become an entertainment hub and safe space for the entire community.
