A Scottish crime boss lookout involved in orchestrating a brutal machete attack on a former gang member has been sentenced to four years in prison. Anthony Redpath, aged 42, was found to have monitored James Sheridan upon his release from prison. Subsequently, Sheridan fell victim to an ambush that resulted in the amputation of his leg. Redpath admitted to a charge of conspiracy to assault Sheridan and was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow this week.
The court heard that Sheridan, previously a gang member, had expressed his desire to leave the group while serving time for drug-related offences. However, the gang’s leader held him responsible for the loss of drugs and money, leading to an order for his assault. Redpath, though unaware of the specific details, was aware of the impending attack on Sheridan. On the day of the attack, Redpath and an accomplice stalked Sheridan to a property in Coatbridge, where the gang violently assaulted him and his partner before fleeing the scene. Sheridan suffered severe injuries, including the amputation of his leg and loss of fingers, while his partner also sustained injuries.
Despite his guilty plea, Redpath, who was not a gang member prior to the incident, was sentenced to four years in prison. Another individual, Ross Al-Gailani, had been previously sentenced to 16 years for his involvement in attacks, including the one on Sheridan.
