Passenger Threatens Bus Driver in East Kilbride, Found Carrying Knife
A disturbing incident unfolded in East Kilbride as a passenger, identified as Peter Fleetwood, was discovered to be carrying a knife after threatening a bus driver. The 31-year-old resident of Pine Crescent appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted to multiple offences.
The court heard that Fleetwood verbally abused and threatened the bus driver while on a journey along the A725 in East Kilbride on March 26 of the previous year. In addition to this, Fleetwood also pleaded guilty to carrying a knife without a reasonable excuse, as well as verbally abusing and threatening police officers, and spitting during the encounter.
Further transgressions came to light as Fleetwood admitted to another charge where he behaved in a threatening and abusive manner on Juniper Avenue in East Kilbride on June 2. On this occasion, Fleetwood was reported to have shouted, sworn, banged on a house door, and even smashed a window with a brick.
As a result of these actions, Sheriff Linda Nicolson has called for background reports and an electronic tagging assessment for Fleetwood. The sentencing has been deferred until the following month to allow for a comprehensive review of the case and appropriate measures to be considered.
