Members of the Stewartry Federation SWI gathered for a lively meeting filled with fun and laughter. The meeting, held on Saturday, October 5, saw president Lesley Malcolmson welcoming representatives from every institute. The day started with Lesley acknowledging the success of members who had participated in various shows over the summer. However, there was also a somber note as she shared the news of the passing of Primrose Morrison, a former chairman of the federation.
A report highlighting recent activities, such as Rural Rambles at Kirkpatrick Durham and line dancing and bingo night at Carsphairn, was presented. The meeting also included a positive financial report. Looking ahead, the members discussed upcoming events, including a Make and Take craft day and a Craft Fayre scheduled for Saturday, November 16 at Castle Douglas Parish Church Hall. The Craft Fayre will be open to the public from 10am to 3pm, with tea being served as well.
In the afternoon session, members engaged in a light-hearted activity of bucket drumming under the guidance of Kate Picken. The drumming session sparked joy and laughter, with members quickly getting into the rhythm with Kate’s expert instruction. The event showcased the members’ creativity and sense of camaraderie as they explored a new musical endeavor together.
