Busted and McFly have just announced an epic ‘ultimate face-off’ joint tour set for 2025. The pop bands from the Noughties, once rivals, have joined forces several times in the past, including a supergroup tour back in 2014. The surprising announcement was made by McFly during their 21st birthday performance on Wednesday, October 9, where they brought out Busted to the delight of fans.
In a statement, McFly declared, “Busted gatecrashed our show last night (not cool), and challenged us to a VS tour next year. They’re old men now, and we are gonna blow them and their carers off the stage next year.” Busted fired back, “There’s been a lot of talk recently… This is where the talking ends…! We are ready to show who is the better band once and for all. McFly suck and Busted Rock!”
The members of Busted – James Bourne, Charlie Simpson, and Matt Willis – stated, “The whole tour is to find out who’s a better band. Fans can decide. They can come and support their band and they might change their mind. It’s going to be a fight to the death.” McFly expressed, “It has been a long time coming, this tour. Fans have wanted this. There’s a massive crossover in the fanbases but secretly [we] think everyone likes Busted more.”
McBusted, a collaboration of McFly and Busted, previously achieved success with a Top 10 album and a world tour in 2014. However, they disbanded when Simpson chose to rejoin Busted, ten years after leaving the group. Tickets for the upcoming McBusted tour will go on sale starting at 9am on Friday, October 18, for 14 shows kicking off in Birmingham on September 16 next year. Fans can register for presale access now.
The tour will cover various cities including London, Cardiff, Sheffield, Leeds, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle, Nottingham, Manchester, Dublin, and Belfast. McFly, formed in London in 2003, consists of Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter, and Harry Judd. They gained fame after supporting Busted on tour in 2004 and won a Brit Award the next year. Busted, on the other hand, originated in Essex in 2000, released several hit singles, took a hiatus, then regrouped in 2015, releasing new albums.
Fans of both bands are eagerly anticipating this ultimate face-off in 2025, where they can witness these two iconic bands battle it out on stage once and for all. Stay tuned for the clash of the pop-punk titans, as Busted and McFly gear up for a musical showdown not to be missed.
